Realty Unwired has launched it’s mobile text messaging service. They provide the ability for prospective home seekers or potential renters to instantly obtain property information via a cell phone text message.
Prospective home seekers see these signs and simply text message a short, property code to a five digit Realty Unwired provided phone number. Within seconds, all of the essential property information — including price, square footage, amenities and contact details — are immediately sent back to the inquirer’s cell phone in the form of a text message. Service starts at $19.99 for a single listing, plus $.10 per text message. Signs are an additional cost ranging from $1.49 for a sticker to $27.99 for a large sign.
It’s an interesting service, one that I’ve seen in action in my own neighborhood. I guess what I’d like to see is the statistics on users of the service. Is it worth the money? Do more qualified buyers come because of it? How fast does that $.10 per text message add up?

I’m a property manager in South Seattle and was one of the first ones to do beta testing for RealtyUnwired before they launched. The service worked great for me, especially on my condo and single family rentals closer to the city. The signs attracted a lot of curiosity from drive by people who didn’t want to bother parking and getting out of the car. But what I really like it for was the ability to use it as a backup for when my flyers ran out. People would text for basic info and since i would have a record of their contact number, I would just give them a call or text them back to touch base.
As for .10 adding up, I guess it does, but I guess thats a good thing. I spend close to .20 per colored flyer and atleast with the texting service I get some kind of recourse on the clients who I would say 80% of whom are good primary leads for my other properties.
I would have to say that overall it was a definetly a great service for the price.
