I’m sitting here listening to the Zillow founders state that they are setting their data free to all realtors through the Zillow API. It’s only open to a few right now, but should be open to more in the near future.
They’ve stated that they won’t charge anyone for this service, that they make their money in advertising. This could be true since they have a couple million unique users each month. They’ve understood that the creating attractive content allows them to capitalize on the advertising side of the game.
As so many investors, and even Google and Yahoo, understand it’s all about the number of users you can attract.
They’ve also just let us know that they’re starting Z-mobile. You can search for it using your email enabled mobile phone. You email to z@labs.zillow.com with the address of the property you’re interested in, in the format below:
