I had a great morning at the Orlando Regional Realtor’s Association offices giving a session on blogging. This was a second-tier type of class for those who had been to the intro to blogging that I did in May. There were just over a dozen of us, and the focus was on how to actually get a blog up and going.

Honestly, my most difficult time was trying to put a lot of the technology terms and knowledge into language that everyone can understand. I remember how it was when I was first learning the ropes, and it’s not that easy to pick up the first time. How do you explain registering a domain, getting a shared hosting account setup and the value of FTP clients to someone new to the field?
This group was the most dedicated of the individuals who wanted to get into blogging for real estate, and it showed. Though the content had a rather steep learning curve, they stuck with it and asked some very good questions. I learned a lot too, this type of class is much different than an intro class. Here you get your hands dirty and do things live – so be ready for things to fail in front of everyone.
Hopefully I’ll be updating this blog with a list of new real estate bloggers from the Orlando area soon.

Blogging is very helpful in linking, sites like this helps add traffic on the net. Quit cool. You jut don’t stick to a particular site when you visit it, it attracts a surfer to diff destinations on the net. When surfing the net on a particular topic, the next thing you end up is a diff topic.
I could have used a class like that before I started my blog. I just learn as I go along. One area I would like to see highlighted is the concept of SiteFeed URLs and what that’s all about. I know I have one because I use blogger and I see lots of places where I should be entering it so that I can get my blog out in front of the viewing world but I don’t really understand what the sitefeed is and where do I find it and how it works…
Any info would be helpful…
Erik,
I love the blog. You always have something relevant and positive to say about our industry which is great. Are you going to be at INMAN San Francisco? Shoot me an email at adam@condo.com or leave me a message on my blog at http://www.condo.com/adamkujacznski. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

I don’t think real estate blogs have to be technical at all. I think the blogger has to have relevant consistent content. I am happy to see that people are teaching this.

Hi Teresa,
You’re right of course, to blog you only need to know how to communicate/write. This second tier class was on how to set up a blog using WordPress.org.
Thanks again for teaching these classes. I think that it’s beneficial for our members. I like the pic!
